This role would be suitable for an experienced Back-End Developer. The successful applicant will be customizing our e-commerce platform (currently serving 150,000 users per month). At Online Auto Parts we have a strong focus on simplifying the auto parts shopping experience, our main focus will be to work on new features and improvements to give the certainty to our customers that their auto parts will fit their vehicle as well as to provide a quick and easy to use shopping experience. Working closely with our Front End developers and testers, you will be an essential member of a passionate team working in a fast-paced and agile environment.


  • Develop and Support features of our e-commerce platform

  • Maintain our back-end infrastructure and connections with various external and internal systems, and provide security for all customer data in Australia and across the globe.

  • Maintain or improve existing software

  • Manage cases and tasks on a daily basis. As well as providing end-user support, work on configuration changes, bug fixes and minor enhancements.

  • Interact and work with other developers, departments or stakeholders to make sure the solutions that are developed are going to work as expected, consistently and securely.

  • Raise security concerns about our software systems or technology infrastructure.

  • Maintain the integrity and security of all systems when and if changes are required.

  • Conduct research into industry best practices, and incorporate those practices into your work.

  • Incorporate industry best practice security and privacy into any software developed.

  • Adhere to all company systems, policies, and/or procedures, including OHS and fire safety.


  • Experience in using J2EE frameworks like Struts 2 or Spring

  • Experience working with REST APIs.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Proven track record of proactive problem solving to simplify complex problems.

  • Strong focus on writing easy to read code, high performance, tests and maintainability.

  • Strong focus on communication and working with others to achieve the best result.

  • Proficient knowledge about Java Web applications security and best practices when developing new features.

  • Experience connecting to external APIs, endpoints and callbacks

  • Experience in quickly testing and debugging applications and API’s

  • Experience using version control systems (like Bitbucket GIT)

  • Experience working with e-commerce and/or live systems with critical uptime.

  • Experience working in a team and using static code analyzers.

  • Good experience and familiarity using relational databases like PostgreSQL

  • Experience working with Issue & Project Tracking Software for teams like Atlassian Jira.

  • Familiarity working under Agile Development Methodologies like Scrum and Kanban

  • Experience working with other developers to test and getting others to test their own code
