Clear is looking for a Financial Accountant to join our specialist team of accountants and bookkeepers who are providing services remotely to our Australian clients from a range of industries, in a remote work setup.
Role and Opportunity
Your role is a work-from-home to oversee and coordinate the group's financial and administrative functions, ensuring proactive management, accuracy, timeliness, and operational efficiency. This position plays a key role in supporting the business with reliable financial insights for informed decision-making, while ensuring that all regulatory and compliance obligations are consistently met.
This is a hands-on role, supported by a full-time bookkeeper and site-based administrative staff who assist with processing customer and supplier invoices, payroll, and selected month-end tasks.
Purpose
You shall be reporting to the Finance Manager, where you will play a key role within a small, collaborative finance team, to:
- Supervise a small team in delivering day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of financial information across the group, including profit centre reporting and management within Xero
- Maintain delegation of authority and ensure compliance.
- Enter intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate records of business assets, ensuring appropriate recognition, valuation and depreciation treatment within Xero.
- Coordinate weekly supplier payment runs.
- Oversee payroll activities, coordinate weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll payments.
- Be responsible for other employee-related obligations, including supporting onboarding, payroll tax, superannuation and PAYG-W.
- Complete end of month accounting processes, including ledger maintenance (and profit centre accounting), balance sheet reconciliations and journal adjustments for accruals.
- Close the ledger by 5 working days, monthly.
- Assist with the short-term monitoring of cash position and contribute to forward-looking cash planning.
- Prepare and distribute the weekly dashboard to the management team and board
- Be responsible for drafting activity statements for lodging with ATO (BAS/IAS/PAYG).
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other tasks as requested by the client and/or management.
- Perform other tasks as required by the client and the management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years of Australian accounting experience
- Holds a Bachelor's degree in accounting or any finance-related field
- High level of proficiency in Excel with experience in using other MS Office applications
- Advanced experience in using Xero (including profit centre accounting)
- Working knowledge of the generally accepted accounting/bookkeeping principles and procedures
