About the Role
Our Sydney team is looking for an individual with strong technical experience in transmission, renewables, water and defence sectors to support our growth. This is an exciting leadership opportunity at CMW, where you'll play a key role in shaping our future while nurturing a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing culture. We're looking for someone who is recognised in the market as a strong geotechnical consultant, passionate about supporting our clients, developing people, fostering collaboration, and helping others thrive while driving technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire our technical team of 32 geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists across NSW, creating an environment where people feel supported, valued, and motivated to do their best work.
- Partner closely with the General Manager and Business Development Manager to identify and pursue strategic opportunities, contributing thoughtful technical insight while encouraging team involvement and growth.
- Represent CMW's technical capability externally through presentations, conferences, and client engagement, acting as a trusted and approachable leader in the region.
- Champion innovation by encouraging new ideas, continuous improvement, and the adoption of tools and methods that enhance safety, efficiency, and quality.
- Support the growth and progression of team members through mentoring, coaching, and constructive guidance, helping individuals reach their full potential.
- Contribute to succession planning and career development, ensuring clear pathways for advancement and a strong, sustainable team culture.
- Work together with technical directors in other states to provide clear technical leadership, stronger mentoring, improved governance, and more consistent delivery across all regions.
A core focus of this role is building strong relationships and fostering a positive, collaborative environment where team members feel empowered, supported, and inspired to succeed in their technical development.
