Job Summary:

The Pivot Mechanic will be responsible for the routine operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of center-pivot irrigation systems. The role will focus on maintaining the mechanical reliability and performance of pivot machinery, identifying and resolving field issues, and supporting efficient irrigation operations across the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine operation and maintenance (O&M) of center-pivot irrigation machines, including drive units, gearboxes, tyres, span structures, and sprinkler nozzles.
  • Inspect pivot systems regularly for wear, misalignment, and structural issues, and carry out necessary repairs.
  • Coordinate with the Irrigation Electrician on electro-mechanical faults affecting pivot operation.
  • Monitor pivot performance, including water-application uniformity and travel speed, and adjust settings as needed.
  • Maintain O&M logs and report recurring issues to the Senior Irrigation Engineer.
  • Support seasonal start-up and shutdown procedures for pivot units.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent trade training.
  • 3–5 years of experience in the operation and maintenance (O&M) of center-pivot irrigation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance of pivot machinery.
  • Hands-on field troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic understanding of irrigation scheduling.
