Job Summary:
The Project Control and Planning Specialist will oversee the planning, monitoring, and control of renewable energy projects, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role focuses on project scheduling, progress tracking, risk management, and reporting, supporting project teams to achieve operational excellence in renewable energy initiatives such as solar, wind, hydro, or hybrid projects.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar.
- Define project milestones, critical paths, dependencies, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to integrate all project activities into the master schedule.
- Project Monitoring & Control
- Track project progress against the approved baseline schedule and budgets.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for time, cost, and quality.
- Identify schedule and cost deviations, analyze impacts, and recommend corrective actions.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for management and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate project records, including schedules, changes, risk logs, and project documentation.
- Support monthly and quarterly project reviews and board presentations.
- Cost Control & Forecasting
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis for renewable energy projects.
- Monitor project expenditures and provide variance analysis between planned and actual costs.
- Ensure alignment of project financials with contractual obligations.
- Risk & Change Management
- Identify potential project risks, schedule delays, and resource constraints.
- Support the management of project change requests and revisions to project scope.
- Ensure proactive risk mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, construction, HSE, and finance.
- Support communication and coordination with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops or meetings for schedule updates and project planning discussions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining project execution plans and schedules on photovoltaic solar projects or power plants of similar technology
- Experience in the planning and control of PV plants with an aggregate peak capacity of more than 4 MW, with at least one (1) PV plant more than 4 MW.
- Strong knowledge of project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP, or equivalent).
- Experience with cost control, forecasting, and project financial management.
- Knowledge of renewable energy project lifecycles (solar, wind, hydro) is essential.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- PMP, PMI-SP, or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
