  • Job Summary

CNS Group is seeking a highly experienced QA/QC Lead Inspector to oversee quality assurance and control activities for spherical tank construction projects. The role involves ensuring full compliance with project specifications, ASME standards, and regulatory requirements, while managing inspection processes across all construction phases. The ideal candidate should have strong inspection expertise, certification background, and hands-on experience in tank construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with ASME Section VIII Div. 2 and project specifications.
  • Act as the primary on-site quality control representative in coordination with the QC Manager.
  • Manage and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) across all project stages.
  • Pre-Construction Phase
  • Review and approve procedures (WPS, PQR, ITPs, NDE, PWHT, welding plans).
  • Verify qualifications of welders, NDE personnel, and operators.
  • Inspect incoming materials and verify MTC/MTR traceability.

Construction/Erection Phase

  • Inspect foundation alignment, supports, and anchor bolt installation.
  • Conduct fit-up inspections (joint prep, alignment, material verification).
  • Monitor welding activities (parameters, WPS compliance, sequencing).
  • Perform visual inspection of welds and identify defects.
  • Coordinate and monitor NDE activities (RT, UT, MT, PT).
  • Review NDE results and ensure compliance with acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor PWHT process and verify temperature control and documentation.

Post-Construction Phase

  • Witness pressure testing (hydrostatic/pneumatic) and verify procedures.
  • Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Compile and verify final quality documentation (MDR/dossiers).
  • Ensure all inspection records and reports are complete and accurate.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • CSWIP 3.1 Certified Welding Inspector or equivalent.
  • BGAS Grade 2 Painting Inspector or equivalent.
  • NDE Level II certification.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction, with at least 5 years in spherical tank projects.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div. 2 standards.
  • Proven experience in inspection, testing, and quality control processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong reporting and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and quality standards.
