Job Summary:
The Motor Grader Operator will be responsible for safely operating motor graders for road construction, road maintenance, land leveling, drainage preparation, and other earthworks within the agribusiness estate. The role will ensure accurate grading and efficient machine operation while maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and equipment care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate motor graders for construction and maintenance of farm roads, access roads, drainage works, and land-development activities.
- Perform grading, leveling, shaping, spreading, and finishing of soil and other road materials.
- Follow required levels, gradients, slopes, and site instructions during grading activities.
- Carry out daily pre-start inspections and report mechanical defects or abnormal machine conditions.
- Perform basic operator-level maintenance, including checking fluids, tyres, hydraulic systems, and lubrication points.
- Coordinate with supervisors, survey teams, and other equipment operators during earthworks and road construction.
- Maintain daily operating records, including machine hours, work completed, and identified defects.
- Follow all site safety procedures and equipment operating requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certificate or recognized vocational/heavy-equipment operator training in Motor Grader Operations or a related field.
- Valid relevant machinery/operator licence or certification where applicable.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience operating motor graders, preferably in road construction, agriculture, construction, mining, or earthmoving projects.
- Proven ability to perform accurate grading, leveling, road shaping, and finishing works.
- Basic understanding of grader controls, hydraulic systems, tyres, and routine operator maintenance.
- Ability to interpret basic levels, gradients, slopes, and site instructions.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements for heavy-equipment operations.
- Experience in agricultural road construction and large-scale land-development projects will be an added advantage.
