Job Summary:
The Procurement/Commercial Specialist is responsible for managing procurement and commercial activities for renewable energy projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services. This role involves supplier management, contract negotiation, cost analysis, and adherence to compliance and sustainability standards relevant to the renewable energy industry.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
Procurement Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers and contractors for renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, hydro, or other technologies.
- Prepare and issue requests for proposals (RFPs), quotations (RFQs), and tenders.
- Analyze supplier proposals to ensure technical compliance, commercial competitiveness, and sustainability alignment.
- Maintain and update the approved vendor database and track supplier performance.
- Monitor procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of critical project materials and services.
- Collaborate with project and engineering teams to define technical specifications and procurement requirements.
Commercial Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, purchase orders, and service agreements.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with company policies, renewable energy regulations, and international standards.
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and support cost optimization initiatives.
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and emerging suppliers in the renewable energy sector.
- Support risk assessment and mitigation strategies in procurement and commercial operations.
- Assist in dispute resolution with suppliers and service providers.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to local and international renewable energy industry standards, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare regular procurement and commercial reports for management review.
- Implement procurement policies and procedures that support sustainability and ethical sourcing.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Procurement or related field.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience out of which minimum of 3 years of experience in managing Procurement/Commercial works of PV plants with an aggregate peak capacity of more than 4 MW out of which at least one (1) PV plant must be more than 4 MW.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, equipment, and industry standards.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation, vendor management, and cost analysis.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software and MS Office.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement and ESG principles is a plus.
