Job Summary:
A Security Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect an organizations people, property, information, and assets. They ensure a safe working environment and minimize security risks.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
1. Security Planning & Strategy
- Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability audits.
- Create emergency response plans and business continuity procedures.
2. Team Leadership & Supervision
- Recruit, train, and supervise security personnel.
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing at all times.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide coaching or disciplinary action when necessary.
3. Physical Security Management
- Oversee access control systems, surveillance (CCTV), alarm systems, and visitor management.
- Conduct security patrols and monitor high-risk areas.
- Ensure proper maintenance and functioning of all security equipment.
4. Incident & Crisis Management
- Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies.
- Lead investigations into security breaches, theft, or misconduct.
- Prepare detailed reports and recommend preventive measures.
5. Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure the organization complies with local security laws and regulations.
- Maintain documentation on risk assessments, incident logs, and security audits.
- Prepare periodic security reports for management.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with HR, Facilities, IT, and Operations to ensure holistic security.
- Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and security vendors.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Security Management, Criminology, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in security operations or managerial security roles.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of security systems, emergency protocols, and risk management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
