Job Summary
CNS Group is seeking motivated and skilled Commis II professionals for a luxury hotel in Zanzibar. The role is responsible for supporting kitchen operations, assisting in food preparation, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring smooth coordination within the culinary team. The ideal candidates should possess basic culinary expertise, strong teamwork abilities, and a passion for hospitality and food service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing ingredients, sauces, garnishes, and food items according to hotel recipes and kitchen standards.
- Support senior chefs in daily food preparation, cooking, plating, and kitchen operational activities.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper organization of kitchen workstations, utensils, and food preparation areas.
- Ensure food products are stored, labeled, and rotated properly according to hygiene and food safety standards.
- Support kitchen operations during breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, and special hospitality events.
- Assist with monitoring food quality, freshness, and presentation standards before service delivery.
- Follow kitchen operational procedures, hygiene regulations, and HACCP food safety requirements at all times.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues or operational concerns immediately.
- Support inventory organization and assist with receiving and storing kitchen supplies when required.
- Work closely with other culinary team members to ensure efficient kitchen workflow and timely food preparation.
- Maintain professionalism, discipline, and positive teamwork within the kitchen environment.
- Assist in minimizing food wastage and maintaining proper portion control standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hospitality, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in kitchen operations within hotels, restaurants, or hospitality environments preferred.
- Experience in luxury hotel operations is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
- Professional attitude, discipline, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Candidates from NCT and other hospitality institutes are encouraged to apply.
- Multilingual candidates will have an added advantage.
- Proficiency in English communication is required.
