Job Summary:
The Fuel Bowser Operator will safely operate the fuel bowser and support the controlled distribution of fuel to tractors, vehicles, heavy machinery, and other authorized equipment across the estate. The role will ensure accurate fuel issuance, proper record keeping, safe handling, and responsible operation of the assigned vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the fuel bowser to deliver fuel to authorized vehicles, tractors, machinery, and equipment.
- Dispense fuel accurately according to approved requests and operational requirements.
- Maintain daily records of fuel received, issued, delivered, and remaining balances.
- Conduct pre-start inspections of the bowser vehicle, fuel tank, hoses, pumps, valves, and dispensing equipment.
- Monitor for leaks, spills, damaged hoses, or other safety hazards during fueling activities.
- Follow approved fueling routes and coordinate deliveries with workshop and field operations.
- Ensure fire extinguishers, spill-control equipment, and other required safety equipment remain available and serviceable.
- Report fuel discrepancies, vehicle defects, leaks, spills, or equipment faults immediately.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Form Four education or equivalent.
- Valid Tanzanian driving licence appropriate for the assigned fuel bowser/heavy vehicle.
- Relevant hazardous-material, fuel-handling, or defensive-driving training will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years of professional heavy-vehicle driving experience, with fuel bowser or petroleum-product handling experience strongly preferred.
- Good understanding of safe fuel handling, dispensing, spill prevention, and fire-safety procedures.
- Basic knowledge of heavy-vehicle inspection and routine maintenance.
- Good numerical and record-keeping skills for accurate fuel accountability.
- High level of integrity, safety awareness, discipline, and responsibility.
