Overview
This leadership role is responsible for building and managing a specialized practice area or serving as a subject matter expert recognized within the industry. The Director oversees service delivery for a defined client portfolio and drives business development efforts to expand market presence and engagement opportunities. This position plays a key role in strategic decision-making within the practice, including resource management, talent development, and internal leadership. The role also promotes collaboration across teams and functions within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing a defined service line or technical specialty area.
- Managing multiple, complex engagements simultaneously, often involving cross-functional team contributions.
- Delivering projects that meet quality and timeliness expectations, while effectively managing project scope and stakeholder collaboration.
- Handling commercial and contractual aspects of engagements, including fee proposals, budget management, and scope adjustments.
- Potentially leading a key operational area such as People Management, Financial Oversight, or Market Segment Development within the practice.
- Analyzing complex business scenarios and identifying strategic priorities.
- Engaging and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and regulatory bodies.
- Providing practical and forward-thinking solutions that enhance business value and competitive advantage.
Qualifications
- Strong technical expertise in Australian tax and accounting legislation.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar professional services or corporate advisory environment.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification or equivalent.
- Relevant tertiary or postgraduate education.
- Proven ability to stay current with evolving tax laws and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in tax and accounting systems and tools.
- A client-focused mindset and the ability to understand complex business environments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and service innovation.
- A strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
