About the job Regional Accounting and Control Manager
A leading global insurance firm is seeking a Regional Accounting and Control (RAC) Manager to drive the financial close process for the Asia region and ensure the integrity of regional financial reporting. This role is responsible for overseeing the preparation of Asia Financial Statements, managing the consolidation of statutory reports to Regional and Corporate offices, and acting as a key Relationship Manager for various Business Units (BUs). Reporting to the RAC-FRR Director, the role plays a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining robust internal controls (SOX), and providing technical accounting guidance to support regional growth and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Regional Accounting and Control - FRR Director or take the lead in the overall financial close process for Asia.
- Ensure the timely closing of the Business Units (BU) books based on the agreed-upon regional schedule.
- Ensure that key controls over RAC-FRR's Financial Close Process are operating effectively and meet internal standards.
- Review and coordinate with the BU Finance team on the timely submission of notes disclosure requirements and Canadian statutory requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy of information reported in various management reports and regional consolidations.
- Support Business Unit needs by providing technical guidance on various accounting issues and processing COV requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of Asias financial and regulatory reports to Corporate.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for submission to the Regional Office Finance and Central Accounting based on agreed timelines.
- Participate in the impact assessment of new standards or amendments to existing accounting standards.
- Lead and participate in SOX-related activities to ensure compliance with global internal control frameworks.
- Perform complex reconciliations and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regional guidelines.
- Participate in various finance projects and high-priority initiatives across the Asia region.
- Act as the Relationship Manager for the Asia Business Unit (BU), bridging communication between local and regional finance teams.
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks and management reporting as assigned by the RAC-FRR Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or a related business course; CPA is required.
- 8+ years of working experience with at least 5 years of combined accounting, supervisory, and/or managerial experience.
- Working experience in sizable multinational companies (MNCs) and/or the insurance industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledgeable of IFRS with strong technical accounting skills and experience with IFRS 17 is required.
- Knowledge of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) is an advantage.
- Knowledgeable in computerized accounting systems such as SAP, Sun Systems, and Oracle is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication, strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Work Setup: Hybrid (2 days onsite)
