Position Overview
The Syracuse VA Medical Center is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist with either Abdominal (AB) or Vascular registry credentials to provide high‑quality diagnostic imaging services for our Veteran population.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general scans, including small parts, abdomen, pelvic and vascular ultrasound examinations using approved protocols and equipment.
- Produce high‑quality diagnostic images for interpretation by VA radiologists.
- Verify patient identity, review clinical history, and ensure proper exam preparation.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures and ensure comfort throughout the exam.
- Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to support accurate diagnosis and timely patient care.
- Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, reporting any malfunctions or service needs.
- Document exams and patient information in the VAs electronic health record system.
- Follow all infection control, safety, and patient privacy (HIPAA) standards.
- Assist with workflow efficiency, exam scheduling, and departmental coverage as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current ARDMS or CCI registry in Abdominal or Vascular ultrasound (required).
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent experience performing abdominal and vascular studies in a hospital or outpatient setting.
- Proficiency with Doppler, duplex scanning, and advanced vascular imaging techniques.
- Strong communication, patient‑care, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently during extended shifts while maintaining high clinical accuracy.
- Experience with electronic medical records and PACS systems.
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 0800–2000 (flexibility is important)
