Important Note: This contract is outside IR35 regulations. We have multiple roles available for both contract and permanent positions.

Position Overview:

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Grid Engineer to join our dynamic team covering projects across the UK.   As a key member of our utilities and renewables consultancy, you will be crucial in designing and managing grid connections, ensuring solutions are optimised and delivered efficiently on behalf of Clients

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a well established consultancy at the start of significant plans for growth so it is a great time to join the company.

You will:

Manage the grid connections process for multiple projects from feasibility to energisation.

Works with the Clients Development Team to determine the power requirements for potential sites that are being evaluated for acquisition, including enquiries with the DNOs on power availability.

Main point of contact for DNO/DSO and TSO liaison leading pre-application calls with the distribution and transmission network

Carry out power feasibility assessments, submit DNO/DSO applications and optimise connection offers.

Review Connection Offers and Budget Estimates in terms of technical and commercial requirements.

Carry out technical assurance for designs ensuring compliance with Distribution Code, G99, G100, P28, P29 etc.

Coordinate/Support external and internal parties with the Grid Connection activities

Support/input to initial layouts, CAPEX and timelines to optimise connection to site.

Provide technical support to other functions (such as planning, H&S, etc)

Ensure projects meet engineering standards and that design proceeds on a compliant basis.

You will need:

Strong technical knowledge of LV, HV and EHV grid connections, standards, regulations, constraints, and requirements

Relevant years experience within the UK

Demonstrable experience/knowledge of the UK electricity regulatory framework.

Thorough knowledge of GB standards and codes.

Knowledge of the use of LTDS and other public data available to carry out initial Feasibility assessments.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with external parties.

Good organisational and analytical skills

A strong track record in project delivery or in supporting complex Project management.

Fluent in English

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable:

Post-graduate degree in electrical engineering.

Capability in IPSA, Python, or other modelling languages.

Cost/benefit analysis experience.

Computer modelling/programming skills.

Experience of network modelling and power systems analysis.

Experience working for DNOs, IDNOs, TSO, ICPs or Power System Consultancies would be advantageous.
