Job specification
The Rail Vehicle Air Conditioning Service Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of rail vehicle air conditioning and ventilation systems, including commissioning after repairs and upgrades. This role combines independent work on the vehicle and in the workshop with the obligation to comply with the quality and safety standards set by the manufacturer, operator and internal regulations.
- After training, perform diagnostics of failures in air conditioning units of rolling stock.
- Perform maintenance (cleaning, leak check, filter replacement, refrigerant charging, electrical installation check).
- Perform repairs of mechanical, cooling and electrical parts of air conditioning equipment according to technical documentation.
- After training, put air conditioning systems into operation after repairs or modernizations and perform functional tests. In case of leaks, perform repair by soldering (after passing the test according to the relevant standard EN 13585).
- Keeps daily records of repairs
- Cooperates with the dispatcher in planning work
- Comply with regulations and safety.
Candidate Requirement
- Very good technical knowledge in the field of refrigeration, air conditioning or electrical engineering (ideally experience with rolling stock or mobile equipment).
- Ability to independently diagnose faults and read electrical diagrams and technical documentation in Czech; English/German an advantage.
- Diligence, strong focus on work safety and ability to follow technological procedures.
- Physical fitness and willingness to work at heights, outside the vehicle and in the operating depot/station environment.
- Willingness to work in shifts or on standby according to operational needs.
- Advantage: certification for working on electrical equipment (working with refrigerants/F-gases).
Educational Requirement
- Education:
- Education: Secondary or vocational education in refrigeration, air-conditioning, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Experience: At least 2–3 years in servicing air-conditioning, refrigeration, or HVAC systems; experience with rail vehicles, buses, or other mobile equipment is an advantage.
