Director of Pharmacy | Acute Care Hospital

Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead all pharmacy operations within an acute‑care hospital environment. This role oversees clinical services, regulatory compliance, budgeting, staffing, and strategic initiatives that support safe, effective, and high‑quality medication management.

Requirements:

• Coordinate and support internal and external audits.
• Provide strategic leadership and direction for all pharmacy operations.
• Promote a culture of safety, professional growth, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement departmental goals, policies, and quality standards.
• Oversee medication management, clinical protocols, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead and mentor pharmacy staff, including hiring, onboarding, evaluations, and performance management.
• Manage departmental budgets, financial performance, and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies.
• Collaborate with medical staff, nursing, and hospital leadership to optimize patient care.
• Integrate evidence‑based practices into pharmacy operations and clinical workflows.

Qualifications/Must-Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school.
• Active Utah Pharmacist license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, regulatory standards, and medication safety.
• Leadership experience in a hospital or health‑system pharmacy setting.

Preferred Skills:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)
• Strong leadership and team‑building skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong operational execution.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Commitment to patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent communication with clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders.
• Previous Director‑level or Manager‑level pharmacy leadership experience.
• Experience with budgeting and financial oversight, accreditation surveys (TJC, DOP, CMS), clinical program development and pharmacy automation and technology systems.
