Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Risk Management to lead the organization's risk, compliance, and patient safety programs. This senior‑level role is responsible for proactively identifying risk, supporting clinical and operational leaders, and ensuring the facility maintains the highest standards of regulatory compliance and ethical practice.

This position also serves as the facility's Compliance & Ethics Officer, providing strategic oversight and fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Risk Management Leadership

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate clinical, operational, and regulatory risks.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the organization's comprehensive risk management program.
  • Partner with clinical and administrative leaders to proactively address risk exposure and strengthen safety practices.

Incident, Claims & Litigation Oversight

  • Manage incident reporting, investigations, and follow‑up actions.
  • Oversee claims management, legal holds, and coordination with external counsel as needed.
  • Ensure timely documentation, communication, and resolution of risk‑related events.

Compliance & Ethics Program Oversight

  • Lead compliance initiatives, audits, and corrective action plans.
  • Promote ethical standards and organizational integrity across all departments.
  • Serve as the facility's Compliance & Ethics Officer, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and internal regulatory requirements.

Training & Culture Development

  • Strengthen organizational awareness of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver training on risk management, compliance, and incident reporting.
  • Support leaders and staff in building a culture of safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Relationship Building

  • Work cross‑functionally with clinical, operational, and executive teams.
  • Facilitate strong relationships with providers and key stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on risk, compliance, and patient safety matters.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active (or eligible) New Mexico RN license.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • 5+ years of healthcare experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in acute care risk management.
  • Background in a for‑profit hospital environment.
  • Experience with ethics and compliance programs.
  • Experience facilitating relationships with providers
  • Advanced degree (MSN, MBA, MHA, or related field)
