Our client is seeking an experienced General Manager of Environmental Services (EVS) to oversee housekeeping and custodial operations at a large acute‑care hospital. This leader will ensure a clean, safe, and patient‑centered environment while driving service quality, regulatory compliance, and strong client satisfaction.

This is an onsite leadership role responsible for directing both exempt and non‑exempt EVS staff, partnering with hospital leadership, and ensuring consistent delivery of high‑quality environmental services.

Compensation: $91,000-$110,000 + Sign-On Bonus

Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Maintain compliance with hospital, regulatory, and safety standards.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Lead daily Environmental Services/Housekeeping operations within a hospital setting.
  • Partner closely with Infection Prevention, Environment of Care, and clinical leadership.

People Leadership

  • Direct, coach, and develop a diverse team of supervisors and frontline staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance management, and employee engagement.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of hospital staff and leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with hospital leadership and department heads.
  • Drive patient and client satisfaction scores through service quality and responsiveness.

Financial & Contract Management

  • Develop, manage, and monitor operating budgets.
  • Support or participate in union and contract negotiations as applicable.
  • Analyze performance metrics and implement action plans to meet targets.
  • Oversee vendor and contract management, including bid processes and compliance.

Project & Quality Oversight

  • Use data and quality metrics to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage major repairs, renovations, and capital projects in coordination with vendors.
  • Lead departmental initiatives, process improvements, and change‑management efforts.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a hospital or large healthcare facility is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership presence, and client‑relationship skills.
  • Proven experience with budget management, vendor/contract oversight, and performance metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Infection Prevention and clinical leadership.
  • 5+ years of management experience leading teams in a service‑delivery environment.
  • 3–5 years of director‑level experience in custodial, housekeeping, or environmental services.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a unionized setting.
  • Background managing large teams across multiple shifts.
  • Director‑level EVS/housekeeping experience specifically in a hospital environment.
