Our client is seeking a hands‑on Workshop Manager & Technical Service Specialist to support repair operations, field service, spare‑parts activities, and customer technical support. This role blends mechanical expertise, workshop coordination, and customer‑facing service work.

You will perform gearbox and winch repairs, lead on‑site service operations, prepare quotations, and ensure high‑quality service delivery both in the workshop and at customer locations.

Requirements:

Technical Service & Mechanical Repairs

  • Prepare technical documentation, inspection reports, and repair summaries.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues, conduct inspections, and perform root‑cause analysis.
  • Execute in‑house and on‑site service operations, including repairs, rebuilds, commissioning, and functional/load testing.
  • Perform hands‑on assembly, teardown, maintenance, and repair of industrial gearboxes, winches, and related drive‑technology components.

Workshop Management

  • Oversee spare‑parts needs, repair workflows, and service center operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of service history, parts usage, and repair processes.
  • Coordinate workshop activities, including scheduling repair jobs, managing turnaround times, and ensuring quality and safety standards.

Customer Support & Field Service

  • Provide technical consulting and troubleshooting support to customers.
  • Conduct on‑site inspections, service visits, and technical presentations.
  • Represent the company professionally during customer interactions and field assignments.
  • Support complaint handling, warranty evaluations, and spare‑parts recommendations.

Sales & Spare Parts Support

  • Prepare quotations for spare parts, repairs, and service work.
  • Support preliminary contract reviews related to service and repair scope.
  • Collaborate with inside sales on order entry, proposal development, and customer communication.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Ensure service operations align with cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Work closely with engineering, sales, and service teams to develop solutions for customer needs.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Experience coordinating workshop or service‑center activities.
  • Strong communication skills and customer‑facing professionalism.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel ~35% (domestic + international)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (Sage or similar)
  • 5+ years of hands‑on mechanical service experience, including gearbox and winch repair.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and perform mechanical repairs in the workshop and at customer sites.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical drive systems (gear ratios, bearings, lubrication, alignment, failure modes)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work safely in a hands‑on environment.
  • All education levels considered or equivalent hands‑on experience is fully acceptable.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in technical field service or customer service roles.
  • Experience preparing technical quotations or service proposals.
  • Familiarity with spare‑parts operations, warranty claims, or complaint handling.
  • Background in heavy machinery, industrial equipment, maritime/port equipment, offshore systems, or drive‑technology applications.
