Our client is seeking a FSQS Superintendent to provide leadership and oversight for food safety and quality systems within a ready‑to‑eat (RTE) food manufacturing environment. This role ensures regulatory compliance, audit readiness, product integrity, and effective team performance across all FSQS functions. 

The Superintendent serves as a key partner to Production, Sanitation, and Operations leadership and acts as departmental lead during scheduled weekends and staff absences.

Onsite | No Visa Sponsorship 

Compensation: Up to $95,000 base + 8–10% bonus

Relocation Assistance: Up to $5,000 + 30 days' temporary housing

Responsibilities:

Food Safety & Quality Leadership

  • Manage product hold, verification, and disposition processes in collaboration with Production leadership.
  • Conduct routine facility walkthroughs to verify compliance, identify risks, and ensure documentation accuracy.
  • Oversee HACCP and SSOP programs to ensure compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal standards.
  • Lead or support third‑party and regulatory audits, including preparation, execution, and corrective action follow‑through.

Team Management & Development

  • Support cross‑training, skill development, and succession planning within the department.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels while managing vacation schedules and weekend rotation coverage.
  • Supervise FSQS staff including scheduling, performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary actions.

Operational Execution

  • Review and validate daily FSQS reports, logs, and records for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure SOPs, job descriptions, and FSQS documentation remain current and audit‑ready.
  • Maintain sample integrity for laboratory testing and ensure timely submission and documentation.
  • Monitor inventory of FSQS supplies and equipment; support budget adherence and purchasing needs.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Participate in product development, process improvement, or special projects as assigned.
  • Partner with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to investigate contamination events, implement corrective actions, and maintain continuous improvement.

Weekend & Absence Coverage

  • Serve as acting FSQS lead on a rotating weekend schedule and during planned absences of FSQS leadership roles (Manager, Supervisors, HACCP Coordinator, Clerk)

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Experience leading regulatory and third‑party audits.
  • Ability to work onsite with regular weekend rotation.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated experience implementing HACCP and SSOP programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Meat Science, or a closely related field.
  • Basic and Advanced HACCP certification (HACCP Alliance–certified program)
  • Strong critical‑thinking skills with the ability to interpret regulatory documents (Notices, Directives, etc.)
  • 5+ years of Quality Assurance or Food Safety experience in ready‑to‑eat (RTE) food manufacturing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with product hold/disposition workflows.
  • Supervisory experience in a structured food manufacturing environment.
  • Background in multi‑department or enterprise‑scale food production facilities.
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring, sample handling, and laboratory coordination.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Primary work performed in a combination of office and production floor settings.
  • Ability to walk production floors, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs. as needed.
  • Exposure to cold/hot environments and manufacturing areas requiring PPE (hearing protection, safety glasses, etc.)
