QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Certification: BLS AND ACLS
- License: Nursing Council
- Experience: 3 Years
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS:
- Cath lab nurses start IVs and administer powerful cardiac and sedative medications. Their keen assessment skills are necessary for detecting subtle but important changes throughout the procedure.
- Cath lab nurses operate advanced equipment and troubleshoot as needed. They help with imaging procedures and assist cardiologists with interventions.
- Cath lab nurses communicate with patients, colleagues, and doctors during time- sensitive, intense, and often stressful situations. Cath lab nurses communicate clearly, calmly, and confidently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To Provide assessment, monitoring and intervention for cardiac procedures, such as coronary stents, Swan Ganz/right heart catheterization, balloon valvuloplasty, angioplasty and pericardiocentesis
- Administering oral and intravenous medication to patients
- Operating intra-aortic balloons, physiological recorders and printers for monitoring electrocardiogram data
- Managing patients under sedation to watch for adverse reactions
- Educating patients and their families regarding surgical site care, lifestyle, medications and other postoperative information
- Managing paperwork, including patient consent forms, charting, lab results and procedure documentation
- Collaborating with other medical staff as needed.
