Manager of Aircraft Maintenance
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea
Our client, a well-established aviation company in Papua New Guinea, is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Aircraft Maintenance to lead its aircraft maintenance operations. This is a senior-level role, reporting to the General Manager MRO, and plays a key part in ensuring the safety, compliance, and reliability of the fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Oversight

Lead all maintenance activities across the fleet, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures.

Implement and monitor maintenance schedules to optimize aircraft availability and reduce downtime.
Compliance & Safety
-
Ensure adherence to the company's quality and safety management systems.

Oversee audits, compliance inspections, and maintenance documentation aligned with CASA PNG and Part 145 Exposition.
Team Leadership

Manage and mentor a team of maintenance professionals, including LAMEs and Supervisors.

Handle recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and workforce planning.

Foster a strong safety culture and promote professional development.
Cross-Departmental Coordination

Work closely with CAMG, Flight Operations, Planning, Finance, and Stores to synchronize maintenance schedules with operational demands.

Support procurement activities and liaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure the timely availability of parts and materials.
Performance & Continuous Improvement

Monitor KPIs such as aircraft availability, on-time maintenance, cost control, and reliability.

Identify risks and implement corrective actions.

Drive innovation and process improvement across the engineering function.
Budget & Risk Management

Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.

Monitor expenditures related to parts, labor, and contracts.

Assess engineering risks and develop contingency plans.
Requirements
Education & Certification

Bachelor's degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent vocational experience may be considered.

Valid LAME license or equivalent, with specific experience on turboprop aircraft preferred.
Experience
-
Minimum 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.

Proven background working in a regulated aviation environment, with exposure to safety audits and fleet expansion strategies.
Skills

Excellent knowledge of aviation regulations, safety standards, and maintenance systems.
