Job Title: General Surgeon

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced General Surgeon to provide high-quality surgical care and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical services. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary setting, contribute to rural outreach projects, and participate in the growth of one of Papua New Guinea most prestigious hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to surgical inpatients and outpatients.

Perform and assist in surgical procedures aligned with qualifications and supervision.

Manage emergency surgical cases including initial stabilization and operative interventions.

Participate in surgical ward rounds, handovers, and clinics.

Liaise with nursing, anaesthesia, radiology, pathology, and allied health teams for coordinated care.

Maintain detailed and accurate medical records (including EMR).

Collaborate in the planning of integrated patient care, perioperative medicine, and risk minimization.

Support the development and implementation of risk management policies and clinical protocols.

Be available for after-hours and weekend calls for surgical consultations or emergencies.

Monitor and guide junior staff, ensuring quality care delivery and skills development.

Deliver field medical services for corporate clients and rural health projects across PNG.

Support and participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME), training programs, and quality control initiatives.

Participate in public outreach, promotional events, seminars, and health expos representing the hospital.

Uphold professional conduct and follow hospital policies at all times.
Requirements:

MBBS and specialization in General Surgery or equivalent.

Registration or eligibility for registration with a medical board.

Proven experience managing both elective and emergency surgical cases.

Strong team leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
