Senior LPG Trader – Singapore

We are partnering with a leading energy trading organization to appoint an accomplished Senior LPG Trader to be based in Singapore. This is a high-impact commercial leadership opportunity for a seasoned LPG professional with deep market expertise, a strong trading track record, and the ability to drive profitable growth across Asia-Pacific markets while working in close partnership with global trading teams.

The successful candidate will bring significant experience in LPG trading, including physical and paper markets, arbitrage strategies, and integrated trading models involving refining and downstream supply. This role is ideally suited to an individual who has previously built or scaled a trading desk and is confident operating in fast-moving, high-value international markets within a globally connected trading platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Trading & Commercial Performance
  • Develop and execute profitable LPG trading strategies across Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Identify and capitalize on regional and international arbitrage opportunities, including Middle East to Asia flows.
  • Build and manage a strong commercial portfolio across physical and derivative markets.
  • Optimize value chains through integration with refining, storage, logistics, and downstream channels.
  • Work in close alignment with LPG trading teams in Europe and North America to maximize global portfolio value, share market intelligence, and coordinate cross-regional trading strategies.
  • Deliver sustainable profitability while managing market volatility and margin exposure.

Global Collaboration

  • Maintain daily collaboration with international LPG traders across Asia, Europe, and North America.
  • Coordinate global positions, market views, and arbitrage opportunities across time zones.
  • Share regional intelligence, pricing insights, freight developments, and supply-demand dynamics with overseas teams.
  • Support the execution of cross-border trades and integrated global strategies.
  • Contribute to a unified global trading approach by ensuring strong communication and alignment across regional desks.

Market Intelligence & Analysis

  • Monitor global LPG fundamentals, freight dynamics, pricing structures, and regional demand trends.
  • Assess macroeconomic, geopolitical, and regulatory developments impacting LPG markets.
  • Generate actionable market insights to support trading decisions and strategic positioning.
  • Maintain strong visibility on competitor activity and market dislocations.
  • Risk Management
  • Manage trading exposure within approved mandates and risk frameworks.
  • Work closely with risk, finance, and compliance teams to ensure robust governance.
  • Monitor positions, VaR, P&L, and stress scenarios to preserve capital and maximize returns.
  • Maintain disciplined hedging and portfolio optimization strategies.

Relationship Management

  • Build and strengthen relationships with producers, refiners, counterparties, brokers, shipping partners, and customers.
  • Negotiate term and spot contracts, ensuring commercially advantageous outcomes.
  • Represent the business at industry forums, conferences, and client meetings.
  • Develop new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to junior traders and commercial staff.
  • Support the growth and development of a high-performance trading culture.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, chartering, finance, credit, and supply chain teams.
  • Contribute to broader business strategy and expansion initatives

Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure all trading activity complies with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Deliver regular reporting on market outlook, trading performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records, contract documentation, and audit-ready processes.

Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years of experience in LPG trading with a demonstrable record of commercial success.
  • Strong expertise in LPG arbitrage, particularly Middle East to Asia trade flows.
  • Deep understanding of refining economics, downstream supply, and integrated trading models.
  • Proven experience establishing, building, or leading a trading desk.
  • Experience operating in a global trading environment with close collaboration across multiple regional teams.
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Established network within the global LPG and energy trading community.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with high attention to detail.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop talent.
  • Proficiency with trading systems, market intelligence tools, and risk platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Advanced qualifications or industry certifications are advantageous.
