With a diverse portfolio spanning non-ferrous metals, alloys, minerals, coal, coke and steel products, they combine deep market expertise with tailored logistics, financing and supply-chain solutions.

As part of continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Copper Trader to strengthen their refined copper trading platform in the United States.

The Role

As a Copper Trader, you will manage physical and financial copper trading activities, develop market views, execute trades, and drive profitability across global copper markets. You will work closely with Risk, Logistics, Analysts and senior traders to implement strategies aligned with commercial objectives and risk limits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze global copper markets, prices, inventories and supply–demand dynamics
  • Develop and execute trading strategies across physical copper and derivatives
  • Trade cathodes, concentrates and refined products; manage futures, options and OTC instruments
  • Optimize portfolios and manage positions within defined risk limits
  • Execute and negotiate trades, ensuring disciplined entry/exit and best execution
  • Implement hedging strategies and manage price, basis, credit and operational risk
  • Coordinate logistics and execution of physical trades
  • Build and manage relationships with producers, smelters, traders and end-users
  • Identify new trading and business opportunities
  • Report on P&L, risk, exposures and market outlook

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years experience in commodity trading, ideally copper or base metals
  • Proven track record in physical and/or financial metals trading with P&L responsibility
  • Strong understanding of global copper markets, supply chains and derivatives
  • Commercially astute with strong analytical and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with global counterparties and in an international trading environment
  • Familiarity with LME/COMEX and market data platforms (Bloomberg, Eikon)

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or similar
  • MBA or Masters degree advantageous
  • CFA, FRM or similar certifications a plus
