Our client is a leading international trading and services group with a strong global footprint across Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. They trade a broad range of non-ferrous metals, alloys, minerals and steel products, supported by tailored logistics, financing and supply-chain solutions.

As part of continued expansion, they are seeking an experienced Senior Metals Trader to strengthen their metals trading platform in Brazil and South America.

The Role

As a Senior Metals Trader, you will manage physical metals trading activities across regional and international markets, develop market views, execute trades, and drive profitability. You will work closely with logistics, risk and senior traders to implement trading strategies aligned with commercial objectives and risk limits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor global and regional metals markets, prices, and supply–demand dynamics

  • Trade physical metals and selected derivatives across base metals and specialty alloys

  • Negotiate pricing, volumes, delivery terms and contracts with suppliers and customers

  • Develop and manage relationships with producers, suppliers, customers and traders

  • Coordinate logistics and execution of physical trades with operations teams

  • Identify new trading and business development opportunities

  • Support portfolio optimization, hedging and basic risk management

  • Report on trading performance, exposures and market outlook

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years experience in physical metals trading

  • Experience trading one or more of:
    copper and copper alloys, aluminium, zinc, nickel alloys, cobalt alloys, ferro-alloys, titanium alloys, zirconium alloys, stainless steel alloys

  • Strong understanding of metals markets, pricing and physical supply chains

  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills

  • Exposure to futures and derivatives trading and hedging strategies is an advantage

  • Experience managing market and credit risk is an advantage

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, international trading environment
