Millwright - Senior Apprentices

We need highly skilled and motivated Journeyman level millwrights with 10+ years’ experience working on hydroelectric power stations.  This position is responsible for performing all general mechanical maintenance on power plant equipment and must possess journeyman millwright skills.   Just as important to your technical skills,

PRIMARY DUTIES

1. ·        Observe equipment operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance performance.
2. ·        Set up and operate machine tools to repair and/or reproduce parts and fittings, working from blueprints and/or reverse engineering.
3. ·        Assemble, disassemble, and reassemble mechanical equipment, replace/repair parts, align, test, and adjust as necessary.
4. ·        Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to equipment such as large turbines, pumps, diesel generators, and hydraulic systems.
5. ·        Repair, modification, inspection, and maintenance of major civil structures including concrete dams, tunnels, and roads.
6. ·        Repair and rebuild air compressors, oil pumps, large valves, governing systems, oil lubrication systems, and complex hydraulic systems.
7. ·        Monitor, control, and operate hydroelectric generating stations and associated equipment.
8. ·        Test, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions or failures of electrical and/or mechanical equipment.
9. ·        Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System to plan work assignments and document test results and repairs.
10. ·        Utilize office and specialty computer programs as needed for predictive maintenance tasks.
11. ·        Maintain logs, records and files.  Update drawings, equipment files, sketches, and prepares or supports generation of work reports.
12. ·        Provides input on progress to project management team to ensure project schedule is accurate.
13. ·        Respond to and evaluate plant emergencies and maintain regulatory water flow requirements.
14. ·        Fabricate, modify, shape, and repair metal equipment parts using a variety of metal working machines and welding methods.
15. ·        Perform complex rigging and crane operations.
16. ·        May operate forklifts, jib cranes and similar lifting equipment.
17. ·        Perform housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean and safe.

MINIMUM POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

1. ·        High school diploma or equivalent.
2. ·        At least 5 years of mechanical experience, preferably in hydroelectric power generation.
3. ·        Completion of a state certified apprenticeship (preferred) or equivalent.
4. ·        Ability to complete physically demanding work in rough natural terrain and noisy environments with the presence of safety hazards that must be properly managed to ensure safe operations.
5. ·        Willingness to travel.
