Position Overview

Controls & Automation Consultants (CAC) is supporting a global parcel and logistics organization on a nationwide sortation equipment upgrade program spanning multiple high-throughput distribution hubs across the United States.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide end-to-end project leadership across planning, execution, coordination, and closeout activities for over 30 sortation line upgrades at four major facilities. This role acts as a central integration point between contractors, engineering teams, local site maintenance, and the clients program leadership.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused PM role suited for professionals experienced in industrial equipment installations, automation programs, or material-handling systems operating at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

  • Lead planning, scheduling, and execution activities across multiple U.S. facilities simultaneously
  • Coordinate activities between contractor teams, local maintenance groups, and client project leadership
  • Maintain alignment between project schedules, resources, and site constraints

Execution Oversight

  • Ensure equipment installation and modifications align with approved engineering drawings and project specifications
  • Track installation progress, manage open issues, and drive timely resolution
  • Identify execution risks and implement mitigation strategies related to schedule, resources, safety, and quality

Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as the primary coordination point between:
    • Client project management
    • Local facility maintenance teams
    • Engineering and technical delivery teams
    • Installation contractors and vendors
  • Provide clear, consistent project status updates and issue escalation as needed

Risk & Issue Management

  • Proactively identify project risks related to contractor coordination, site readiness, and technical integration
  • Develop and execute corrective action plans in collaboration with stakeholders

Project Closeout

  • Drive project closeout activities including:
    • Final documentation review and approval
    • Punch-list resolution
    • Turnover and handoff to local maintenance and operations teams
  • Ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with client standards

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management experience in industrial automation, material handling, logistics, or manufacturing environments
  • Proven experience managing multi-site or multi-contractor projects
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Equipment installation and integration
    • Engineering drawings and technical documentation
    • Construction and automation project workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk, schedules, and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel to multiple U.S. facilities as required

Preferred Experience

  • Sortation systems, conveyor systems, or parcel/logistics automation
  • Owners-rep or integrator-side project leadership
  • Experience working within active production facilities
  • Familiarity with project documentation, turnover packages, and commissioning support
