Controls Automation Engineer

Position Title & Basic Details

We’re looking for a Controls Automation Engineer based in Hebron, KY. This is a Full-Time position requiring 510 years of relevant experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field is strongly preferred.

Overview

In this role, you’ll be responsible for troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing automated equipment on a high-speed liquid filling, capping, and labeling line within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in PLC programming, Allen-Bradley systems, and Cognex In-Sight Vision Systems and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize automated equipment across liquid filling, capping, and labeling operations.

  • Program, modify, and maintain Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMI interfaces to improve equipment performance and throughput.

  • Integrate and maintain Cognex In-Sight Vision Systems for inspection and verification tasks.

  • Interface with motion control and robotic systems to ensure precise movement and control during production.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Support equipment validation activities and ensure compliance with GMP and FDA regulations.

  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve yield.

  • Maintain and update electrical and control system documentation, schematics, and change logs.


Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Allen-Bradley (RSLogix/Studio 5000) PLC programming and troubleshooting; familiarity with Cognex In-Sight Vision Systems, motion control systems, and robotics.

  • Experience: Minimum 510 years working in controls engineering within the medical device industry or other regulated environments.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SCADA systems or industrial communication protocols.

  • Familiarity with liquid handling systems and packaging equipment.

  • Knowledge of electrical panel design and troubleshooting.
