Position Title & Basic Details

Were looking for a Contract Controls Technician based in Fort Wayne, IN. This is a Contract position requiring 7-12 years of relevant experience. A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.

Overview

In this role, youll be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of industrial control systems and automation equipment. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in Rockwell PLCs and industrial automation and thrives in an onsite, night shift environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Rockwell ControlLogix 5000 and RSLogix 500 PLC logic for machine control
  • Utilize FactoryTalk platforms including Transaction Manager, View ME/SE, Asset Centre, and Batch V11.0 for HMI and data management
  • Perform preventative maintenance, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Coordinate projects with management, contractors, and utilities
  • Train team members and operators on equipment operation
  • Maintain effective Preventative Maintenance programs
  • Record and report project activities and equipment serial numbers
  • Attend safety meetings and write JSAs

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix 5000, RSLogix 500), FactoryTalk platforms, Allen Bradley, Ignition, SCADA; familiarity with AutoCAD, RSNetworx, RSLinx is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years working on industrial controls and automation systems, preferably in the Food and Beverage sector.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities; detail-oriented and able to handle pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL Server data storage/acquisition
  • Knowledge of analog and digital systems
  • Experience with AP Thin Manager/Client
  • Experience as an electrician or controls engineer in an industrial environment
