Were looking for an Electrical Design Engineer based in [State]. This is a Full-Time position requiring at least 6 years of relevant experience. A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.
Overview
In this role, you'll be responsible for designing and developing electrical products, solutions, and systems, including the technical improvement of existing products and components. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in electrical hardware design and thrives in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret customer and engineering specifications to develop robust electrical designs for low to medium voltage systems.
- Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs using E-Plan and/or AutoCAD.
- Perform calculations for cable sizing, breaker selection, and component specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and engineers.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure seamless production and provide technical support.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (NEC, IEC, UL) and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews to ensure quality and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate and up to date documentation, including BOMs and schematics.
- Work closely with engineers and project managers to gather requirements and resolve design conflicts.
- Contribute to design process improvements and best practices.
- Prepare BOMs, ensuring a complete "for manufacture" package with schematics and layouts.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in E-Plan, AutoCAD, or similar design software; familiarity with NEC, IEC, UL standards.
- Experience: Extensive experience in electrical hardware design for low to medium voltage systems. Proven ability to perform cable sizing, breaker selection, and other electrical calculations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in E-Plan.
- Expertise with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and automation systems.
- Proficiency with power electronics.
- Experience with industrial control systems.
- Skilled in panel design and layout.
- Ownership of design reviews.
