CAD Design Engineer – Industrial Automation (Contract)
We're looking for a CAD Design Engineer based in the U.S. This is a contract position requiring 3–5 years of relevant experience. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.
Overview
In this role, you'll be responsible for providing high-quality electrical design and drafting support for industrial automation projects. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in AutoCAD Electrical and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical 2022.
- Produce professional-quality drawings for:
- Industrial control panels
- Automation systems
- Instrumentation and control layouts
- Power distribution and wiring diagrams
- Interpret redlines, markups, and engineering notes to create accurate CAD drawings.
- Maintain drawing standards, layering conventions, and documentation best practices.
- Support engineering teams with design revisions and documentation updates.
- Organize drawing packages and ensure version control.
- Coordinate with project engineers and customers to ensure design intent is met.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (2022 or newer); familiarity with control circuits, PLC I/O drawings, panel layouts, and power/signal wiring is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years working on industrial automation projects.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting systems integrators or automation projects.
- Familiarity with industrial standards (ISA, NFPA, UL508A is a plus).
- Experience with panel shop documentation packages.
