About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading automation engineering organization serving the Life Sciences industry, is seeking a Senior DeltaV Controls Engineer to lead large-scale capital automation projects within biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing environments.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for full project lifecycle execution—from architecture and design through commissioning and validation—within cGMP-regulated facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead design and implementation of complex Emerson DeltaV control systems

Own full project lifecycle: URS through FAT/SAT, commissioning, IQ/OQ support

Architect scalable, class-based DeltaV system designs

Develop ISA-88 batch sequencing, phase logic, and recipe structures

Design high-performance HMIs using DeltaV Live and DeltaV Operate (aligned with ISA-101)

Define system infrastructure (servers, virtualization, cybersecurity, redundancy)

Design and specify industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, OPC UA)

Integrate OEM and third-party equipment into DeltaV environments

Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and engineering resources

Ensure compliance with GAMP5, cGMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 standards

Lead FAT/SAT execution and validation documentation efforts

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across teams

Travel up to 25% for site support and commissioning activities
Required Qualifications
-
Bachelors degree in Electrical, Control Systems, Chemical Engineering, or related field

8–15+ years of automation engineering experience in Life Sciences

Extensive hands-on expertise with Emerson DeltaV (architecture, configuration, implementation)

Strong experience with:

ISA-88 batch processing

ISA-101 HMI design principles

DeltaV Live and DeltaV Operate

Historian integration and advanced control strategies

Deep knowledge of cGMP, GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance

Experience managing capital automation projects end-to-end

Strong leadership, communication, and project management capabilities

Stable career progression within regulated manufacturing environments
Preferred: Experience with Rockwell Automation, Ignition, Siemens PCS7, or other DCS/SCADA platforms.
