Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and licensed Professional Land Surveyor to lead and manage our surveying operations in Thomaston, GA. This is a mid-senior level, on-site leadership position ideal for a motivated professional with 10+ years of surveying experience and a strong grasp of federal, state, and local surveying regulations.

As a Surveying Manager, you will oversee multiple field crews, ensure the highest standards of quality control, and manage project budgets, client relationships, and team performance. You'll also lead business development efforts, represent JMT in client meetings, and play a key role in driving the success and growth of our surveying discipline. We're looking for a strategic and hands-on leader with a deep technical background in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Inroads, and MicroStation, as well as proven experience in preparing boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveys. Responsibilities

  • Assemble field data, perform survey calculations, and prepare legal descriptions
  • Manage operations of multiple field crews
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and billing
  • Responsible for client management on projects
  • Business development for discipline in the market
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, coaching) that supports the growth and development of the team
  • Prepare boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveys.

Requirements

  • Professional Registered Land Surveyor
  • 10+ years of experience in surveying
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • General understanding of survey plan preparation using Inroads/Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • A working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction surveying regulations is required.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with subface utility designating and locating preferred
  • Familiarity with aerial mapping, LiDAR scanning, and sUAS is preferred
  • Familiarity with the GA Department of Transportation linear project surveying is preferred
  • Familiarity with roadway and bridge construction and maintenance is preferred.
