General Description / Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for analyzing and evaluating the quality of automotive products and components to ensure that they meet industry standards. They use their technical expertise to develop and implement quality control processes and ensure the production of high-quality parts and components. Automotive Quality Engineers must be able to analyze data, identify areas for improvement, and work with vendors to ensure their products meet the required quality standards.

Essential Job Duties:

Analyzing and evaluating the quality of automotive products and components to ensure they meet industry standards.

Developing and implementing quality control processes.

Ensuring the production of high-quality parts and components.

Operating the Quality Management System (QMS) and conducting audits.

Supporting the customer to ensure ongoing quality excellence.

Assisting manufacturing departments in developing their Control Plans and Work Instructions in accordance with their PFMEAs, Process Flows, quality systems procedures, and customer requirements.

Performing quality-engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.

Applying statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate current processes and process changes.

Communicating significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and providing recommended process improvements to management.

Reviewing customers change requests and ensuring the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans.

Participating in internal and external quality audits.

Interfacing with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and ensuring effective corrective action is implemented.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings with GD&T experience.

Excellent communication skills.

Strong computer skills, including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, SolidWorks & AutoCAD.

Must have knowledge and understanding of CP and CPK.

Other duties as assigned.

Non-Essential Job Duties:

Familiarity with IATF-16949 / ISO-9001 requirements.

Experience creating & maintaining PFMEA, PPAP, APQP.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

MS Office (Excel is a must), ability to query large data sets (ASCII, CSV, & TXT file formats), statistical processing software.

A broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.

Understanding of the manufacturing environment.

In-depth knowledge of quality systems, policies, and procedures with the ability to apply them to interpret customer requirements.

Ability to travel is essential.

Participate in a teamwork atmosphere and contribute to various continuous improvement projects and processes.

Ability to compute and compile necessary data and present it in various forms for recording, reporting, and presentations.

Ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, and develop conclusions.

Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and policies.

Ability to operate computerized equipment is required.

Must have knowledge of ISO-9001 (IATF & TS16949 is a plus).

Must be able to work under pressure and complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.

Additional Notes:

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat (non-weather), and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Education:

Bachelors in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience:

Entry-level up to 3 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive. Recent graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
