MEP Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing / Building Systems)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior MEP Engineer to lead the design, coordination, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, and mixed-use developments. This role is responsible for ensuring integrated building system performance, technical compliance, and efficient project delivery across all phases of design and construction.
The Senior MEP Engineer serves as a technical leader, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to deliver high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective building services solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
MEP Design & Technical Leadership
Lead the design and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems for various building projects
Develop integrated MEP solutions aligned with project requirements, codes, and industry standards
Review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation
Ensure MEP systems are efficient, maintainable, and compliant with local and international standards
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff
Support value engineering initiatives and system optimization strategies
Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Systems Engineering
Oversee HVAC, ventilation, electrical power, lighting, fire protection, water supply, drainage, and plumbing system designs
Perform engineering calculations including cooling loads, electrical loads, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing
Coordinate utility requirements, equipment capacities, and system integration
Ensure proper selection of MEP equipment including chillers, transformers, generators, pumps, panels, and piping systems
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material specifications
Resolve technical issues related to building services systems and site implementation
BIM Coordination & Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Coordinate MEP systems with architectural, structural, civil, and specialty disciplines
Participate in BIM coordination, clash detection, and design review meetings
Utilize AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM tools for system modeling and coordination
Identify and resolve spatial conflicts and installation challenges during design and construction
Ensure accurate integration of all MEP services within building infrastructure
Project Management & Construction Support
Support project planning, scheduling, and engineering deliverables
Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of MEP design activities
Conduct site inspections and verify installation compliance with approved drawings and standards
Provide technical support during construction, testing, commissioning, and handover
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and clients regarding technical requirements
Assist in QA/QC inspections and commissioning activities
Compliance, Safety & Quality Assurance
Ensure compliance with local building codes, electrical codes, plumbing regulations, fire safety standards, and energy efficiency requirements
Maintain adherence to ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, SMACNA, and other applicable engineering standards
Review system performance, safety requirements, and operational reliability
Support implementation of sustainable and energy-efficient engineering practices
Ensure engineering documentation is accurate, organized, and up to date
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Prepare technical reports, engineering calculations, BOQs, specifications, and design documentation
Maintain project records, revision logs, and engineering documentation standards
Contribute to process improvements, engineering standards, and workflow optimization
Stay updated with emerging MEP technologies, industry regulations, and best practices
Promote innovation and efficiency in engineering design and project execution
Requirements:
5–10+ years of experience in MEP engineering and building systems design
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building utility systems
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM coordination tools
Solid understanding of local building codes and international engineering standards
Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, or mixed-use construction projects
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical coordination skills
Ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering coordination and project delivery
Preferred (Nice-to-Have):
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
Experience with LEED, sustainability, and energy-efficient building systems
Familiarity with Navisworks and BIM clash detection workflows
Knowledge of building automation systems (BMS/BAS)
Experience with healthcare, hospitality, high-rise, or data center projects
Familiarity with project management methodologies and construction administration
Experience in design consultancy or contractor-side MEP coordination
Exposure to smart building technologies and integrated building systems
