Infrastructure Planning Engineer (Network / IT Infrastructure / Capacity Planning / Enterprise Systems)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Infrastructure Planning Engineer to support the design, planning, optimization, and scalability of enterprise infrastructure environments. This role is responsible for analyzing current infrastructure capacity, forecasting future requirements, and ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions that align with business objectives.
The Infrastructure Planning Engineer works closely with IT, Network, Cloud, Security, and Operations teams to ensure infrastructure readiness, performance optimization, and long-term technology planning across enterprise systems and platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Planning & Capacity Management
Develop and maintain infrastructure roadmaps aligned with business growth
Analyze infrastructure utilization, performance, and capacity requirements
Plan and forecast server, storage, network, and cloud resource needs
Recommend scalable infrastructure solutions to support business operations
Evaluate infrastructure risks, dependencies, and upgrade requirementsSystem & Network Infrastructure Design
Assist in designing enterprise IT and network infrastructure architectures
Support infrastructure standardization and modernization initiatives
Collaborate on data center, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure planning
Ensure infrastructure designs meet performance, security, and availability requirements
Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planningPerformance Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor infrastructure performance, reliability, and operational efficiency
Identify bottlenecks and recommend optimization strategies
Analyze system trends and capacity reports to support proactive planning
Support performance tuning for servers, networks, databases, and cloud environments
Ensure high availability and infrastructure resiliencyCloud & Enterprise Systems Planning
Support cloud migration and infrastructure transformation initiatives
Plan hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure environments
Collaborate with cloud, systems, and network administrators on deployment strategies
Ensure efficient resource allocation across on-premise and cloud platforms
Assist in evaluating emerging infrastructure technologies and solutionsSecurity, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure infrastructure planning aligns with security policies and compliance standards
Support vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and remediation planning
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement secure infrastructure practices
Assist in audit preparation and compliance documentation
Promote infrastructure governance and operational best practicesProject Coordination & Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with IT operations, engineering, and business stakeholders
Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and technology rollouts
Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and third-party service providers
Assist in budgeting, procurement planning, and resource allocation
Communicate infrastructure risks, timelines, and recommendations effectivelyDocumentation & Continuous Improvement
Maintain infrastructure diagrams, asset inventories, and technical documentation
Develop standard operating procedures and planning guidelines
Contribute to process improvement and infrastructure optimization initiatives
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
Support knowledge sharing across infrastructure and operations teams
Requirements:
3–8+ years of experience in infrastructure planning, systems engineering, or IT operations
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, networking, and systems architecture
Experience with server, storage, virtualization, and cloud technologies
Knowledge of infrastructure capacity planning and performance monitoring
Familiarity with Windows/Linux server environments
Understanding of network technologies, firewalls, and security concepts
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred (Nice-to-Have):
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
Knowledge of monitoring and infrastructure management tools
Experience with ITIL processes and service management frameworks
Exposure to automation and infrastructure-as-code tools
Understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity planning
Industry certifications such as CCNA, ITIL, AWS, Azure, or VMware certifications
Experience working in enterprise or large-scale infrastructure environments
