Job Description:

Job Summary: As a Bar Waiter, you will be a crucial part of the ship's food and beverage team, responsible for delivering high-quality beverage service to passengers in various bars and lounges onboard. You will work closely with the bartenders and other service staff to create a welcoming and efficient environment for the guests.

Responsibilities:

  1. Guest Service: Provide friendly, attentive, and personalized service to passengers while adhering to the cruise line's standards and protocols.
  2. Beverage Service: Take and process drink orders from passengers, serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in a timely manner.
  3. Product Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the ship's beverage menu, including cocktails, wines, beers, and specialty drinks, to offer recommendations and answer guest inquiries.
  4. Upselling: Promote featured beverages, specialty cocktails, and onboard promotions to increase sales and revenue.
  5. Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure the bar area, including counters, tables, and seating, is kept clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
  6. Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash, credit cards, and shipboard accounts while adhering to the cruise line's cash-handling procedures.
  7. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service guidelines, to ensure the well-being of passengers and crew.
  8. Teamwork: Collaborate with the bartenders, other bar waiters, and service staff to maintain a seamless and efficient operation.
  9. Passenger Engagement: Engage with passengers, build rapport, and create a welcoming atmosphere to enhance their overall cruise experience.
  10. Special Events: Assist in organizing and serving at special events, parties, and themed nights in the bars and lounges.
  11. Inventory Control: Assist in monitoring beverage inventory levels and report shortages to the appropriate personnel.
  12. Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and workshops to improve skills and stay updated on company policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a bar or restaurant setting is beneficial but not always required.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of beverage service, including cocktails and wine, is advantageous.
  • Must be of legal drinking age in the cruise line's country of operation.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
