About the job Cashier
City University Ajman is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in cash handling, and providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors. This role requires strong attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to maintain organized financial records while supporting the university's financial operations.
Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Greet customers as they approach the counter in a professional and courteous manner.
- Respond to inquiries and provide accurate information regarding procedures and policies.
Payment Processing:
- Receive payments via cash, cheque, credit cards, or electronic methods.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change as required.
- Accurately compute and record all transactions.
- Reconcile total payments received with recorded sales on a daily basis.
Workplace Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for university management.
Reporting and Record-Keeping:
- Maintain periodic balance sheets of transactions and financial records.
- Sort, count, and securely manage currency and coins.
- Compile and maintain both monetary and non-monetary records.
- Ensure timely submission of financial data to the Finance Department.
Cash Handling:
- Ensure all cash handling procedures are followed in line with university policies.
- Maintain accurate cash balances at the assigned register at all times.
Operational Excellence:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements.
- Support in training new cashier staff on university procedures and systems.
- Coordinate with the Accounts team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Escalate complex issues or discrepancies to the concerned supervisor promptly.
- Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with university policies and procedures.
- Attend meetings and contribute to operational discussions when required.
- Handle confidential financial information with the highest level of discretion.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in cashiering, finance, or a similar role, preferably in an educational institution.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and financial systems.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
