Hello, our name is Customertimes, but you can call us CT. We are a global digital engineering, product development, and technology consulting company. Headquartered in New York, we have a team of 1000+ experts working across 65+ countries.
About this job:
We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Solution Architect to lead solution architecture and design across Business Central implementation, transformation, and modernization projects.
The role goes beyond Business Central configuration and technical architecture. The Solution Architect is expected to understand the customer's overall enterprise application landscape, end-to-end business processes, integration architecture, and data flows, and to define how Business Central should operate as part of the wider enterprise ecosystem.
The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of ERP and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, solid functional and technical expertise, and a broad understanding of enterprise applications and architecture to be able to translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable end-to-end solutions spanning Business Central and connected business systems.
Location: LATAM, North Africa, Europe.
How you'll make an impact:
- Lead end-to-end solution architecture for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations, transformations, and enhancement projects;
- Understand customer business models, operating processes, organizational structure, and existing application landscape before defining the target solution;
- Analyze end-to-end ERP business processes, including Finance, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Inventory, Warehousing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Project Operations, and related areas depending on the customer environment;
- Define how Business Central fits into the customer's overall enterprise architecture and application landscape;
- Design solutions spanning Business Central and connected enterprise applications such as CRM, e-commerce, logistics and warehouse systems, manufacturing applications, banking/payment solutions, HR systems, document management, Microsoft 365, analytics, and external partner platforms;
- Define clear system boundaries and ownership of business capabilities, determining which processes and data should reside in Business Central and which should be handled by surrounding systems;
- Analyze cross-system business processes and define appropriate integration architecture, data flows, master-data ownership, synchronization patterns, and system-of-record responsibilities;
- Design Business Central application architecture covering standard functionality, configuration, extensions, integrations, reporting, security, data, and environments;
- Determine when requirements should be addressed through:
- standard Business Central capabilities;
- configuration;
- Business Central extensions and ISV partner solutions;
- Power Platform;
- Azure services;
- Microsoft 365;
- third-party applications;
- or integration with other enterprise systems;
- Ensure maximum use of standard Business Central functionality and Microsoft platform capabilities, avoiding unnecessary customization and technical complexity;
- Design integrations using Business Central APIs and web services, Power Platform, Azure integration services, middleware, event-driven approaches, and other appropriate integration patterns;
- Define architectural principles for master data, transactional data, reporting and analytics, including integration with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or other enterprise data platforms where applicable;
- Consider non-functional requirements including scalability, performance, security, availability, maintainability, extensibility, compliance, and operational supportability;
- Review solution designs, extensions, integrations, and customizations to ensure alignment with Microsoft best practices and overall solution architecture;
- Provide architectural guidance to functional consultants, developers, integration specialists, data teams, and other project workstreams;
- Lead and participate in customer discovery workshops, process-design sessions, fit-to-standard assessments, architecture workshops, and design reviews;
- Identify architectural gaps, dependencies, risks, and opportunities for simplification or modernization;
- Support solution estimation, project scoping, delivery planning, technical proposals, and pre-sales activities;
- Support upgrade, migration, and modernization initiatives, including transitions from legacy Microsoft Dynamics NAV and other ERP platforms to Business Central;
- Perform architecture reviews, technical assessments, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for complex cross-system issues;
- Act as a key architectural counterpart for customer IT leadership, business stakeholders, project managers, and implementation teams;
- Mentor consultants and developers and provide architectural leadership throughout the complete project lifecycle.
What makes you a great fit:
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and/or Microsoft Dynamics NAV;
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect, ERP Architect, Technical Architect, Lead Consultant, or similar senior role on Business Central projects;
- Strong understanding of ERP concepts and end-to-end enterprise business processes, rather than knowledge limited to individual Business Central modules;
- Good functional understanding of key ERP domains such as:
- Finance and Controlling;
- Sales and Order Management;
- Procurement;
- Inventory and Supply Chain;
- Warehousing and Logistics;
- Manufacturing;
- Projects / Jobs;
- Ability to understand a customer's enterprise application landscape and design Business Central as part of a broader business solution;
- Experience designing integrations between Business Central and systems such as CRM, WMS/TMS/logistics platforms, e-commerce, banking/payment solutions, HR systems, Microsoft 365, external partner systems, and data/analytics platforms;
- Strong understanding of integration architecture, including APIs, web services, asynchronous integration, messaging, middleware, data synchronization, and master-data management concepts;
- Strong understanding of Business Central architecture, application model, modules, configuration, extension framework, security, environments, and integration capabilities;
- Good knowledge of AL development, extensions, events, APIs, web services, and Business Central development concepts. The candidate does not necessarily need to act as the primary developer but must be able to make and review architectural and technical design decisions;
- Understanding of the broader Microsoft business applications and cloud ecosystem, particularly:
- Microsoft Power Platform;
- Power BI;
- Microsoft 365;
- Azure integration and application services;
- Dataverse;
- other Dynamics 365 applications where relevant;
- Ability to evaluate requirements from business, process, application, integration, data, and technical perspectives;
- Ability to make architectural decisions balancing standard functionality, customization, integration complexity, business value, maintainability, and total cost of ownership;
- Understanding of implementation methodologies, solution lifecycle, environments, deployments, release management, and operational support models;
- Experience producing architecture documentation such as solution architecture diagrams, application landscape diagrams, integration architecture, interface catalogs, data-flow diagrams, and architecture decision documents;
- Strong customer-facing, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills;
- Ability to facilitate architecture discussions with both business and technical stakeholders and explain complex architectural decisions in business terms;
- English proficiency sufficient for direct customer communication, workshops, documentation, and project delivery.
You are a star if you have:
- Experience with enterprise or multi-country Business Central implementations;
- Experience with complex organizations where Business Central operates together with multiple enterprise applications;
- Experience designing solutions across the wider Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem, particularly Dynamics 365 Sales/Customer Engagement, Power Platform, Dataverse, and Microsoft 365;
- Experience with Azure Integration Services, including Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, API Management, and Event Grid;
- Experience with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, or enterprise reporting and analytics architectures;
- Experience with WMS, TMS, e-commerce, EDI, banking, tax, document-management, or other systems commonly integrated with ERP;
- Experience migrating customers from Microsoft Dynamics NAV or other legacy ERP solutions to Business Central;
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and Business Central deployment practices;
- Understanding of enterprise architecture principles, application portfolio management, integration governance, data governance, and security architecture;
- Relevant Microsoft certifications.
