We have partnered with a K-12 educational facility in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area to provide them with a Junior Accountant. Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested.

Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Junior Accountant:

#1. Must have bookkeeping or other relevant accounting experience.

#2. Must have proficiency in accounting software.

#3. No more than three jobs in the last ten years

Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for multiple entities, which includes the following:
    • Perform bank reconciliations
    • Prepare and post required journal entries
    • Review & reconcile all balance sheet accounts
    • Prepare summary of significant events and budget variances
  • Prepare supporting documentation for financial statements including balance sheet schedules and other reconciliations
  • Work closely with independent auditors during annual financial statement audit with preparing schedules and invoices, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary data.
  • Posting of accounts to the General Ledger for:
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Cash Receipts
    • Accounts Payable
    • Cash Disbursements
    • Payroll
  • Maintain records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting material; update records as necessary.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, schools, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Provide support such as schedules, data, information, etc. for the annual budget process.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the Junior Accountant:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or related field.
  • 1-3 years bookkeeping or other relevant accounting experience
  • Computer Basics -- MS Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); proficiency in accounting software.

  • Ability to consistently be at work, to arrive on time, to follow instructions, to respond to management direction and solicit feedback to improve performance.

  • Demonstrates excellent oral (including presentations), written, interpersonal (active listening), skills and ability in negotiating and influencing; great phone etiquette.
  • Good knowledge of company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law.

Other Key Requirements for the Junior Accountant:

  • 100% in office
  • Travel within or outside of state.
  • No sponsorships or visa holders. No Corp-to-Corp.
