About the job Software Engineer
Software Engineer | Reinventing the Energy Sector
Join a mission-driven startup transforming how electricity markets operate. We are building innovative data management and price modeling software for the critical electricity sector. Our platform empowers utilities and power producers to revolutionize their market operations and capitalize on value in the energy transition.
The Opportunity: Own Complex Systems and Drive Product
We seek a Software Engineer to collaborate with our CTO and a small team of highly skilled engineers to design, build, and support our flagship price modeling product. This is a chance to move beyond implementing features and to own complex technical problems end-to-end, from initial scoping to user adoption.
You'll focus on your areas of strength whether that's frontend architecture, backend infrastructure, or data systems while having the opportunity to dive deep into new technical areas. We believe in engineer-led product development, meaning you'll directly engage with customers to understand their pain points and shape the product vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver foundational product capabilities, such as scalable data integration systems and distributed compute infrastructure.
- Own problems end-to-end, from ideation through implementation and deployment.
- Operate full-stack, rapidly learning new frameworks as needed.
- Engage with customers to generate product direction and ensure successful adoption (you won't be building in a black box).
About You
You're a strong engineer who thrives on tackling big, ambiguous problems and is excited by the challenge of building a product from 01.
Core Requirements
- 5+ years post-graduate experience building and deploying production software systems.
- Strong system design skills for complex software.
- Mastery of one or more languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, TypeScript, etc.).
- Depth in at least one area of software development (e.g., infrastructure, backend, frontend).
- Mission alignment: Driven to make the grid cleaner and more efficient.
- Excited to take on work outside the "usual" engineering scope, such as product strategy.
- Must be based in the US.
What We Offer
- High equity ownership as an early employee.
- Competitive salary and a comprehensive healthcare plan.
- Remote-first culture with frequent opportunities for in-person collaboration.
- The opportunity to shape company technology, culture, and team.
