Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to take ownership of the design and enhancement of a complex ETL pipeline built in Python, supporting enterprise-scale data systems on Azure. The successful candidate will define best practices, lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, and ensure alignment with stakeholder expectations and enterprise IT standards. This role requires strong technical acumen, leadership ability, and hands-on experience in modern cloud-based data ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of new features in the Python-based ETL pipeline

  • Define and enforce coding standards and engineering best practices aligned with enterprise guidelines

  • Mentor and guide Data Engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth

  • Plan and oversee the maintenance, refactoring, and performance optimization of existing ETL pipelines (Python + Azure Data Factory)

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in architecture, development, rollout, and operations teams, as well as business users, to define and deliver high-impact data solutions

  • Manage capacity planning and proactive cloud resource optimization across Azure services

  • Oversee the setup of new service components and ensure alignment with scalability and security objectives

  • Coordinate operations and maintenance of related software and infrastructure (Azure Synapse, PowerBI, local dev environments)

  • Maintain detailed documentation for service components, processes, and configurations

  • Monitor service performance and ensure SLA compliance

  • Support audits and risk assessments related to service delivery

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in data engineering

  • 3+ years of experience with Python for data processing (Polars, Pandas, PySpark, etc.)

  • 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services

  • Strong understanding of modern cloud architecture and service-oriented data engineering

  • Familiarity with ITIL principles and IT service management concepts

  • Experience with SaaS-based infrastructure

  • Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills

  • Strong stakeholder and customer management focus

  • Ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities and dynamic environments

  • Outstanding communication skills in English (written and spoken)
