Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Backstage Developer Portal Engineer to build, customize, and maintain our internal developer portal using the Backstage framework. You will be responsible for creating a centralized platform that improves developer productivity, standardizes software development practices, and provides a unified interface for our engineering teams to manage services, documentation, and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and customize Backstage as our internal developer portal solution

• Configure and maintain the Software Catalog to track all services, apps, and infrastructure

• Develop Software Templates to standardize project creation and enforce organizational best practices

• Set up TechDocs for technical documentation using a docs-as-code approach

• Integrate Backstage with our existing tools and services through plugins

• Extend Backstage functionality by developing custom plugins when needed

• Implement self-service capabilities for developers to manage their services

• Ensure the portal's security, reliability, and performance

• Collaborate with engineering teams to gather requirements and improve the developer experience

• Provide training and documentation for portal users

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js

• Experience with Backstage or similar developer portal frameworks

• Knowledge of modern software development practices and tools

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure

• Experience with plugin development and API integrations

• Understanding of developer experience principles and platform engineering

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
