Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

Location: Remote (Candidates based in the Baltic States or Poland preferred)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: 6 months (extension possible)

Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Senior Database Administrator to support critical banking systems. This role will focus on database life-cycle management, performance optimization, and ensuring high availability and security across systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with development and support teams to maintain robust, scalable data environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer OpenEdge RDBMS versions 11/12

  • Perform database architecture reviews, schema design, and backup/recovery procedures (probkup/prorest)

  • Implement and manage data replication and high availability solutions

  • Optimize database performance and resource utilization

  • Automate routine tasks using Bash, PowerShell, or Python

  • Manage access controls and user permissions

  • Collaborate with ABL developers and other support teams

  • Maintain secure, compliant, and resilient database environments

  • Use OpenEdge Explorer and Management tools for monitoring and configuration

  • Support Linux/Unix and Windows server environments

Must-Have Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with OpenEdge RDBMS (v11/12)

  • Expertise in backup, recovery, replication, and performance tuning

  • Solid understanding of database architecture and schema management

  • Strong scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, or Python)

  • Experience in both Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems

  • Familiarity with OpenEdge administrative tools

  • Knowledge of database security, high availability, and disaster recovery

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)

  • Exposure to hybrid data environments and REST API integrations

  • Familiarity with SQL

  • Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines
