VMWare & Infrastructure System Engineer (Junior and Senior Profiles)

Location: Bucharest, Romania (On-site)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-Term
Working Schedule: Full-time (standard hours: 9:00 18:00)

Project Overview

We are seeking multiple profiles, both Operators (Junior) and Experts (Senior) for a long-term infrastructure and systems support engagement. The project involves full lifecycle management and support for virtualization, Windows/Linux VMs, storage, and backup operations across a hybrid infrastructure. 

Technologies in Scope

  • VMWare vCenter 7 & 8

  • Microsoft Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)

  • Linux Ubuntu (18.04/20.04/22.04)

  • Backup Solutions: Veeam and Commvault

Key Responsibilities

For Operators (Junior):

  • Daily administration and configuration of VMWare vCenter environments.

  • Execution of infrastructure tasks (e.g., VM creation, VLAN modifications, patching).

  • Support SAN (Storage Area Network) updates with minimal service disruption.

  • Process and document service tickets, applying client guidelines and standards.

For Experts (Senior):

  • Design, develop and maintain automation scripts to support industrialized deployments.

  • Lead application deployments across Windows and Linux VMs hosted in vCenter.

  • Define and implement baselines and OS versioning strategies.

  • Evaluate and implement updates in Commvault and Veeam backup infrastructures.

  • Collaborate with internal users to define infrastructure requirements and site-wide automation for resource management.

  • Maintain and update system documentation.

  • Serve as escalation point for complex technical issues and act as a single point of contact when needed.

Profile Requirements

Operator Profile:

  • 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Capable of basic to moderately complex administration tasks.

  • Works under the guidance of more senior staff.

  • No managerial responsibilities.

Expert Profile:

  • 5-10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering or system administration.

  • Able to propose improvements and manage end-to-end delivery of technical solutions.

  • Proficient in scripting, automation, and CI/CD strategies.

  • May coach junior staff or lead smaller initiatives (non-managerial role).

  • Strategic understanding of IT infrastructure and system operations.

Additional Conditions

  • On-site presence in Bucharest is mandatory.

  • Overtime and extended hours must be approved 5 days in advance.

  • Additional compensation for extended hours:

    • 50% for night work (20:00-07:00)

    • 50% for Saturdays

    • 100% for Sundays
