Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite) | Compensation: $130,000 – $200,000 | Equity: 1% – 3%

About Chief AI

Early-stage AI company building a command center for leaders to manage time, relationships, and strategy. Already deployed with real-world executive users including government leadership, operating at the intersection of AI, decision intelligence, and high-stakes workflows.

The Role

Founding engineer building an AI-native operating system for executive decision-makers across government and enterprise. Full ownership across backend, frontend, AI systems, and infrastructure, working directly with founders to define product and technical direction.

What You'll Do

• Ship core AI workflows and agentic systems used by executive teams
• Build ingestion pipelines and structure unorganized data into actionable insights
• Work directly with customers to embed into real-world workflows
• Design and evolve system architecture for AI-driven decision-making
• Develop personalization, reasoning, and intelligence layers across the platform
• Prototype features such as voice-to-text, recommendations, and contextual insights
• Own full stack development including backend, frontend, AI, and infrastructure

What We're Looking For

• 2 to 5+ years building and shipping full-stack products
• Strong experience with Python, TypeScript, and React
• Hands-on experience with AI systems including LLMs, agents, RAG, embeddings
• Experience building 0 to 1 products in startup environments
• Product-focused mindset with strong user empathy
• Fluent using AI tools throughout development lifecycle
