About the Role

Sphinx is hiring a Chief of Staff to work directly with the CEO as a true right-hand operator across the business. This is a builder-owner role spanning strategy, GTM, operations, hiring, partnerships, and product launches. The growth path is intentionally broad, with the opportunity to evolve into ownership of GTM or other core business functions as the company scales.

What You'll Own

  • Work directly with the CEO across sales, GTM, marketing, product, operations, people, and strategy
  • Own projects currently sitting on the CEO's plate and drive them to completion
  • Manage CEO inbox, calendar, communications, and execution priorities
  • Lead strategic initiatives including hiring loops, product launches, partnership evaluations, and internal operations
  • Participate in client calls, conferences, and deal cycles
  • Help build foundational processes for future teams
  • Grow into GTM ownership over time alongside leadership

Requirements

  • 0–4 years of total professional experience
  • Exceptional structured thinking and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and clear articulation of tradeoffs
  • High ownership with comfort operating in ambiguity
  • Willingness to handle both strategic projects and unglamorous execution work
  • Top-tier university strongly preferred (MIT, Harvard, Berkeley caliber)
  • Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco immediately — paid relocation offered

Target Backgrounds

Strong signals include MBB consulting (McKinsey, Bain, BCG), top-tier investment banking (Goldman, Evercore, Morgan Stanley, PJT, Centerview, Lazard), venture capital, strategic operations or Chief of Staff roles at high-growth startups, founder or startup builder backgrounds, and quantitative or technical degrees (engineering, CS, math, economics).

Ideal profiles: MBB consultant with 1–3 years strong performance, top-tier IB analyst, strategic ops at a Series A/B startup with direct founder exposure, or structured high-output generalist operator comfortable in founder-chaos environments.
