Job Overview

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director, Corporate Finance & Accounting, is an integral member of the Finance & Accounting Team and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the Corporate Accounting, Treasury, and US income properties functional teams. This individual is accountable for all the organization's corporate financial reporting requirements as well as ensuring all cash management needs are met, including assisting with the company's financing requirements. By leading a large team of direct and in-direct reports, the Director, Corporate Finance & Accounting is critical to the success of Cresseys Finance & Accounting department and will work alongside the Chief Financial Officer in proposing and implementing process and control improvements, with the goal of establishing and maintaining a best-in-class Finance & Accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership of the Corporate Finance & Accounting teams in Canada and in the United States
  • Provide oversight of Cresseys Treasury function, including cash-flow forecasts, liquidity management, and external financing needs
  • Responsible for financial reporting and full-cycle accounting for all Corporate entities
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional collaboration with IPP, Construction/Development, and Tax departments
  • Assist in initiating and fostering relationships with current and future lenders
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills with a strong aptitude to develop team members to be future leaders
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls and internal processes as they pertain to financial reporting and cash management
  • Provide change management leadership in the adoption of the Cresseys new ERP

Skills and Qualifications

  • Professional Accounting Designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of progressive real estate finance and accounting experience
  • Proven ability to integrate strategic business objectives into overall cash management activities
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and coaching teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex issues to senior management as required
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver change management, systems, and process improvements
  • Experience working within a complex, multi-entity and cross-border environment
  • Strong corporate accounting and financial reporting experience within a real estate environment
  • Adaptable to change and continuously seek out improvements to existing processes.
